THE GIFT OF MUSIC

Let me tell a Kutty story, pay attention. LISTEN TO ME!

This happened on Jan 6, 1967. It was a Friday eve. People were filled with all the weekend vibe. That was the time when the star of our story was born and was named DILIP. He was from a middle class family. His childhood was so depressing that he had to spend most of the time in hospitals due to his father’s heart condition. He was not shining in academics. He bunked classes a lot so that he can spend quality time in the studio with his father.

His dad owned a music studio. So from the tender age of 4 he took lunch for his dad to the studio. Dilip involved himself with all the technical work. With three sisters in the house it was difficult for Dilip’s mother to run the family with a sick father.

It was Monday, the beginning of the week. But it felt like everything was ending for Dilip. It was the day when his father left his family and the world. It was really a hard time for a 9 year old child to go through

The entire family drowned in depression. With the three sisters and an innocent mother Dilip felt a lot of responsibilities on his shoulders. It was so heavy for a fourth standard boy. Dilip somehow managed to study till 6th standard. Then he made his choice to work for the family. He went for jobs that earned him daily wages. But the income was so low. He had no fun that a teenage boy would normally have. He felt like a loser. Not having friends and not being able to give the family enough support and haunting thoughts of his father pushed Dilip into suicidal thoughts.

TURNING POINT:

Dilip always fantasized electronic since his childhood. His mother always encouraged him to continuing his father’s footsteps and become a musician. Mr. Sufi, a friend of Dilip’s father's entered his life. He was the game changer. He offered Dilip to work in his studio with electronics. Dilip happily joined the work. He was so passionate and focused. Mr. Sufi always admired the way Dilip worked with music and electronics in such a beautiful way. He was able to see the hidden talent in Dilip.
Slowly Dilip discovered his skill in music. Dilip's life revolved around music and spirituality.  Mr. Sufi and Dilip's mom was fully in support of him. Mr. Sufi wanted to bring out Dilip and his music to the world. At the age of 11 he joined the troop of a music composer.

MUSIC LIFE:

Dilip had a decent salary. He was able to lift his family’s financial status  .With music in his mind, he set his path clear. He always stood apart in his troop. Dilip even studied well and became a scholar in music. At the age of 18 he started his career with TV commercials. He composed for around 10 commercials at that time. The heart took him towards music album. He did few albums and had a great success. By the year 1992, Dilip made his debut as a music director in film industry with his fresh music and young talent.

He was loved by everyone and was in the limelight. He was honored with the national award for his first film. He had many successes .His career was at the peak. Everyone hummed his music. He touched  souls with music. His tune had a special life to it. Also, he married the girl he loved. Audience went to theaters just to listen to his songs. Movies were a hit at the box-office just for his composition.

THE REVELATION:

Does this story feel familiar to you?

We have heard a lot of gossips about this from film industry. Have you guessed it by now? Dilip is none other than ALLAH RAKKA RAHMAN.  Allah rakka means 'the one who is protected by God'. But in his case, he is the one who is blessed by the divine. Yes, it is the real life story of Isai puyal, Mozart of madras, Oscar hero- our beloved AR Rahman

AR Rahman has faced so much difficulty in his young age but he was persistent. Music gave him life. He gave lot of opportunities too to many young musicians. Such a great soul.  The world celebrates music day to honor such great musicians and also the amateur that have true passion on music.

MUSIC – LIFE BEAT:

Music has blended with our lives since the day we were born. From our mother’s lullaby till the mourning on the death bed, music is indispensable for us. When we feel emotionally lost, music helps us find our path and lead a pleasant life. Music has its own dimension and we understand it without any language. Some like melody, some are into trance. Some just love pop. Let’s share music and make the world sound better!!
