FEMINISM-Who is she?

To the girl who is beating the dead horse, who is thinking about the Amazon prime day, who is an on fleek foodie buying pizzas on pizza hut mid-week offer. And yeah !!The hedonist gentlemen.

This is for you :

INTRODUCTION:

Not long ago when we all were bored about this quarantine, lockdown and monotonous lectures, where our cell phones were our allies we would have browsed through instagram, twitter with hashtags saying :
#feminismo
#feminista
#prochoice
#metoo
#niunamenos
With this prominent photograph with PURPLE and BLACK shades

Looks like the one seen in ‘Black Lives Matter’.!!
What is feminism?
Who was the one who initiated the movement ?

Was India lacking in feminism?
Let's dive deep into this

DEFINITION:

As per Google, feminism means ’the advocacy of women's rights on the ground of the equality of the sexes.’
And feminism was started by Elizabeth Cady Stanton in the year 1948 as per Google records.

FEMINISM IN INDIA

The same Google says that feminism was evoked in 19th century in india.
Going with the definition provided of ‘equal rights’ as the motto of feminism . Women were never denied their rights .

PRE-EXISTING FEMINISM:

We could see many women freedom fighters like Sarojini naidu, Annie Besant , Kasthurba Gandhi who were never told to stay home by the father of our nation.
It’s a known gospel that Kasthurba Gandhi and Mahatma Gandhi would take turns to clean their toilet.
Even while writing our Indian constitution Ambedkar made a point that a handful of seats are reserved for women.

A question clicks: If women were treated equally then why was there a need for women empowerment? Why was Mahatma Gandhi a feminist?.
When we take our holy book Mahabharatham women were treated in par with God

ESTRANGEMENT:

If we went into detail- kingdoms that were prosperous in the northern part of Indian subcontinent  before Muslim invasions in medieval period of India ,women were involved in the defence practices of their state and were led into battlegrounds during war periods.
When the Mughals started to expand their dynasty from the Indus Valley civilisation in the west , to the Ganges valley in the east till present day Pondichery in the south , there were changes being implicated in women lifestyle.
Muslim queens were never given chances in the political issues, so as the women in that dynasty.

BRITISH INDIA:

Meanwhile, after so many years of well-heeled administration by the Mughals, they took the edge off .Simultaneously East India Company of the British came into the scene in 1619. The British were polished at their administration and policies , in order they welcomed public participation, but pretty much they knew it would turn into a perfect storm.

Women were given education and opportunities but within certain boundaries.

They were given less wages and weren't sent to school after certain years.

Moreover in the dark hidden secrets women belonging to lower caste were raped by the Britishers and some upper caste men.We could say women were taken more for human pleasure and baby producing machines.

At this tempo female infanticide increased. This may also be the reason for Gandhiji becoming a feminist .

To boot Gandhi being a feminist, we have our Bharathiyar who came out with cavernous meaning of feminism through his poems .

We could sense the impact of feminism he had through robust words.

FEMINISM MISINTERPRETATION:
In this modern lifestyle we have misunderstood our rights and freedom.
A particular group of women feel they must excel with men in-par. That’s a total misconstrue.
We are far more strong than men, they are not our competitors.
It’s not that easy to bleed for days and be workaholic.
Studies have shown that the labor pain of a women is equivalent to a heart attack of an individual.
We are the ones who give birth to the next generation, no men is given a maternity leave .
We are not same as the men, bruh, not a fair competition.

CONCLUSION:
As there is voice of women taking feminism for granted , we all need an intersectional feminism than just feminism
Which means : INTERSECTIONAL FEMINISM
a prism for seeing the way in which various forms of inequality often operate together and exacerbate each other.

The term coined by Kimberlé Crenshaw
She says “All inequality is not created equal.”This is something to think about.
Though we speak about rights and equalities ,there are still some girls who are topsy-turvy with the scene. For them who require the feminism photograph

The colour purple denotes-  meanings of wealth, extravagance, creativity, wisdom, dignity, grandeur, devotion, peace, pride, mystery, independence, and magic.
The colour black denotes- royalty, nobility, luxury, power, and ambition.
The hand with fingers clenched into the palm denoted as hitting.
I would say when you yourself denote the colour purple and black why do you require a clenched finger.
