POWER OF SELFLESSNESS

INSPIRATIONAL ICON OF WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

INTRODUCTION:
Woman –the one who plays a daughter, sister, wife, mother in the drama of life as per the words of Shakespeare “All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players”.

In ancient times women were worshipped as Goddesses. But as time passed patriarchy came into play. Male treated female as helots. Many leaders raised their voice for the liberty of women all over the world.

One such women's rights activist is MALALA YOUSAFZAI

MALALA’S CHILDHOOD AND FAMILY :
Malala, a young Nobel Prize laureate was born on 12 July, 1997 to a Pashtun family in Mingora, Pakistan. Her parents are Ziauddin yousafzai  and Tor pekaiyousafzai. She belongs to a lower middle class family.
Mishaps always have one sided love for all. It won’t leave anyone living on the earth. And it came into the life of the Pashtuns.
Talibans who referred themselves as the Islamic emirate of Afghanistan invaded their hometown. They not only grabbed their hometown from them but also deprived the people of their basic rights.
Talibans were considered as demons by Pashtuns as they took away the right to education from women. This made them ferocious but they were not strong enough to confront the evil Taliban.
Malala’s father, an activist condemned Taliban. He asked his daughter to deliver a speech in Peshawar on the title “How dare the Taliban take away my basic right to education!!”. She delivered the speech in 2008 when she was just 11 years old . This ignited the Pashtuns.

MALALA’S REVOLT AGAINST TALIBAN:

In 2009, she started blogging for BBC about Talibans which paved the way to make the Pashtun women literate in future. This shows her quenchless thirst for acquiring knowledge and her patriotism.

She raised her voice continuously to keep the fire alive in the hearts of Pashtun to rebel against the Talibans . She gave many interviews  to TV channels, radios and expressed dissent.
These were her words back in the day “Education is education. ” Education is vital for human survival and to expand his horizons. She never stepped back from insisting on women's education and empowerment. She had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and strongly believed that books and pens had the capability to relieve the masses of terrorism
In 2011, she was nominated for the International children’s peace prize. In the same year, she was awarded Pakistan’s National Youth Piece Prize.

MALALA IN THE CRUEL CLUTCHES OF DEATH:
A year passed and Malala continued to ignite the Pashtuns against the Taliban with the mightiest weapons in the world: pen and paper. These activities of Malala made her a unique figure among the Pashtun’s. This enraged the Talibans.
On 9 October 2012, she was shot by a Taliban. The bullet with the highest velocity hit the left side of Malala's head. Along with her some other girls were injured. She was admitted to a military hospital in Peshawar. She slipped into coma following which she was taken to Britain. There she came out of coma. This gave her energy and she raised with a lot more of power.
