 Going up in the smoke due to yours puffs, is not yours but others lives too. Written on the carton itself that it is injurious to health, but still we do not refuse to purchase. In the world being addicted to love, we are here getting addicted to temporary pleasure. For this very reason, in order to improve the awareness among literate and illiterate, WHO has marked may 31st of each year as the WORLD NO TOBACCO DAY.


THIS YEAR, 2020

Marking May 31st each year for its significance, this year, youth-the newer sapling are being targeted. Protecting youth from industry manipulation and preventing them from tobacco and nicotine use stands the theme for this quarantined 2020. From the product design to marketing them, tobacco companies have found a great path in replacing the number of deaths due to their products with a newer number of youths. They have not failed to attract us towards them by adding flavors, or marking the product as reduced harm or better alternative. But, the point is ,DO THE ADVERSE EFFECT STAND NIL?

WHO ARE AT RISK?
✓Highly noted that people under heavy stress & burden are prone to smoking.

✓ Nonsmokers are harmed equally due to chronic exposure to tobacco smoke. 

✓ Children of parents’ who smoke suffer severe respiratory infections from their childhood.

WHAT DID THAT POOR BEING DO TO YOU, DEAR SMOKER?

✓ Secondhand smoke exposure increases the non smokers’ risk of lung cancer and coronary heart disease.

✓Smoking interferes with the productivity of estrogen, affects folliculogenesis and ovulation and hence proceeds to female infertility.

✓Smoking may further lead to Intrauterine Growth Retardation (IUGR) and low birth weight.

✓Smoking may further increase pulmonary and respiratory tract infections.


WHAT SHOULD BE YOUR NEXT BIG STEP?

Reduce by just one cigarette a week! Yes, you read it right, Reducing by just one would do. 
While there are many deaddiction centers and awareness programs around the street, not all have proved beneficial for all the age groups. Technology has taken its tool this time too. Youth, the most vulnerable, would respond to Facebook status and Instagram story better than just wise words. We hope this blog would awaken the sleeping minds too.

Just like how many smokers feel, support from the family and friends play a very crucial role in deaddiction. Joining hands and encouraging them to quit should be our focus people.

Educated are we all, but how much has all the knowledge that was preached to us actually entered our brain is the question of the hour. WE, the second GOD, like the layman say, have ourselves not gotten rid of the demon. Then how does our conscience permit us to prescribe chantix to the addicts?
